Program Manager (Food Support)

Salary: $46,868 - $49,900 DOQ

Position Summary: Oversee the coordination and administration of all food support programs including planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting and evaluating to provide equitable and healthy food access to participants.    


  • Supervise staff, interns and aides, including hiring, performance management and termination to ensure department workload and goals are met
  • Ensure team is compliant with safe food handling procedures, proper maintenance of equipment/appliances in order to comply with license requirements
  • Manage program finances to remain within annual budget. Work with finance department and Director of Basic Needs to develop ongoing budget.
  • Oversee outcome achievements as outlined by funding report standards. Provide necessary reports, outcome measurements and program evaluation to internal and external sources.
  • Collaborate in developing, implementing and evaluating systems, policies and procedures, recommending changes that enhance the quality of participant services and increase operational efficiency.
  • Represent or ensure agency representation at the Hunger Network and other external food support partnerships
  • Maintain confidentiality of all program participants according with state Data Privacy Act
  • Attend and participate in departmental/agency meetings and trainings as required
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Nutrition or Public Health experiences preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree with one full year of social service experience (or) 5+ years of social service experience
  • 3+ years of program management experience preferred, including staff and intern supervision
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of immigrant/refugee acculturation, self-sufficiency issues and community resources
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse ethnic, economic, racial and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work independently
  • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail)
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation with ability to drive agency vehicles
  • Must be able to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends depending on special programming
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
